Sunanda Mahendra was formerly a professional broadcaster at home as well as the BBC’s World Service based in London, where he also read for his doctorate. He was a visiting fellow in Mass Communication attached to the Leicester University, UK, and presently holds the emeritus professorship at the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. The outstanding contribution to his expertise field of Mass Communication made him the recipient of the covetous UNESCO Copernicus award for Social Sciences in 1983.
He won the State Literary Award for the best Sinhala poetry collection, 2006. Many poems from the collection are now translated into English. He has won the State Literary Award for the best original play script (1993), the best research work (2002) and the best two Sinhala novels (1964 and 2002 respectively).
Sunanda Mahendra, at present, is a regular contributor to the Sinhala and English Press in Sri Lanka as well as the media consultant to LakHanda Radio & Independent Television Network (ITN). He is a visiting lecturer for Writer ship and Communication Department of Sri Jayawardanapura University, Sri Lanka.
She is a veteran Actress and a Tele-Drama Director especially popular among the Tamil Community. She came into the creative field through the Tamil Children Program in 1974 at the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation [SLBC]. She came onto the stage as an Actress in 1976. She acted in the first Tamil Tele Drama produced in Sri Lanka. Presently, she is fames as a skillful director in the creative field.
R.A.JAYAWEERA possesses varied Professional Qualifications as Chartered Accountant, with over 25 years experience in allied fields of Accounting, Taxation, Project Formulation and Evaluation. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka F.C.A, Fellow of the Society of Certified Management Accountants in Sri Lanka, F.S.C.M.A. Master of Business Administration, M.B.A. University of Ceylon. He is a Senior Partner in Messrs. P. E. Mathew & Co. Chartered Accountants and also a Director – Business Managements Services Ltd. He was the Additional Secretary, Ministry of Cultural Affairs for 4 years & the President of Kalana Institute of Social Studies.He also has contributed to Journalism by his numerous Journals on Accounting & Productivity in the Public Sector. He regularly contributes to the national daily newspapers and journals. Amongst his specific articles are on Good Governance, Making Democracy Meaningful, Re-modeling the Civil State Machinery, Administrative Reforms, Resource Management, From Procedure Orientation to Result Orientation, etc.
A former assistant director of cultural affairs has excelled in the field of arts as a popular composer and Author, with special ability in organization. He has also featured in Television and Radio programs. He was instrumented in appointing Justice of Peace for Whole Island.
He’s a Bachelor of Arts Degree [BA] of the University of Sri Jayawardanapura, Sri Lanka and passed the Library Services Central Examination. He is awarded the Kala Bhushana by the State in recognition of his services to the nation.
He is a practicing Attorney-at-Low [LLB. Colombo], has a Masters Degree of the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. He also holds a National Diploma in Business Studies. Rajendra is also a free-lance Journalist and a Cartoon Artist as well as a Author having published 7 books. He served as the secretary of the Arts Council of Sri Lanka.
